Northern lights igloo Kiruna

The northern lights igloo for students

We pick you up from your hotel/hostel in Kiruna at app. 13.00 by car and bring you to our base camp. Here you can leave your luggage and you'll get proper winter clothing (overall, boots, cap, mittens) and an introduction into driving a dogteam before we'll head off. Half of the group will be travelling as passengers in the guides sled - the other participants will drive own sleds with dog teams up to 4 Alaskan huskies. We'll travel on the ice of the frozen Torne river towards Jukkasjärvi, the village with the famous Icehotel. After we'll have passed the village we'll make a short stop to exchange drivers of the dog teams with the passengers on the guide's sled. We'll
leave the ice of the Torne river and drive onto the big Sautus lake. With arrival at the igloo we will prepare food on the open fire in a big tent/lavvu and check in into your accommodation for the night. You will spend the night in "your" igloo on reindeer furs and in warm sleeping bags. After breakfast the guides are going to pick you up by snowmobiles with trailers. You'll sit in the trailer and get a transfer to the Icehotel where you have two hours time to get an impression of this world famous project and all the ice sculptures. We'll pick you up by car and make a short stop at our home base to pick up our luggage and to change back to your clothes before we'll drive you back to town or to the railwaystation/airport.

Since the igloo is located in a quite remote location the price for this tour is depending on your exact groupsize. Please note that you have to be a group of at least 8 participants. The igloo is available from December, 20th but we recommend early booking!
